Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by four wickets: Farhan’s 89 and the next T20I
Pakistan lead Sri Lanka 1–0 after the Rawalpindi chase. Read the confirmed scores, women’s U19 result and timings for Pakistan’s next matches.
Second T20I matchday update · 11 October
Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to meet again at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today. PCB lists first ball at 6:00 PM PKT and the toss at 5:30 PM. Pakistan enter with a 1–0 series lead after chasing 183 in 18.5 overs in the opener.
Three evidence-based viewing points
- Pakistan’s top-order follow-up: Sahibzada Farhan made 89 and Maaz Sadaqat 50 in the first match. The question is whether Pakistan can repeat that partnership depth if early wickets fall.
- Sri Lanka’s conversion: Lahiru Udara’s 91 helped set 182/8. Sri Lanka’s task is turning another competitive total into stronger control during the chase.
- Pakistan’s wicket-taking: Naseem Shah took 3/36 and Muhammad Imran 2/21. Their impact is worth following again, without assuming an unchanged playing XI.
These are editorial viewing points based on the completed first match, not predictions. Playing XIs and toss decisions were not confirmed at this morning’s check.

Farhan and Sadaqat put Pakistan ahead
Pakistan won the first T20I by four wickets at Rawalpindi on 9 October, reaching 187/6 in 18.5 overs after Sri Lanka made 182/8 in 20. Sahibzada Farhan scored 89 from 53 balls and Maaz Sadaqat made 50; their second-wicket stand added 92. Pakistan lead the series 1–0.
Editorial reading: that partnership gave the chase its foundation, but one successful pursuit does not settle the series. For the second game, watch whether Pakistan can repeat that top-order contribution and turn their bowling wickets into tighter control of the innings. These are viewing questions, not a prediction.

Women’s U19: Sri Lanka win in Faisalabad
In the separate U19 competition on 9 October, Pakistan made 110/8 in 20 overs and Sri Lanka replied with 111/1 in 15.2 to win by nine wickets. Komal Khan’s 54 led Pakistan’s batting; Sanjana Kavindi made 61 for Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s next opponents are Bangladesh on 11 October, then Sri Lanka on 12 October, at Iqbal Stadium. The tournament announcement schedules first ball at 11:00 AM PKT. The key viewing question is how Pakistan build on an individual half-century to produce a stronger innings total; the result alone cannot identify a single cause of defeat.

USA’s victory matters beyond one result
ICC confirms that USA beat Namibia by four wickets in Dallas on 7 October, securing the Cricket World Cup League 2 title. Monank Patel made 108. USA, Scotland and the Netherlands have secured places in the 2027 World Cup Qualifier: qualification for that event should not be confused with a guaranteed World Cup place.
